America's best male and female squash players compete in Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Athletic Club to host United States Men & Women?s Professional Squash Championships

Twenty of the top-ranked professional male and female squash players living in America will vie for the title of United States Professional Squash Champion over the weekend of June 23-26, 2005 at The Los Angeles Athletic Club.

No less than ten current and former National, Collegiate, Pan American and International squash champions will compete in two separate eight-player draws for the men and women?s coveted titles.

Featured players for the women include: Latasha Khan of Seattle, current U.S. National Champion and Pan American Game Gold Medalist; Lily Lorentzen, current U.S. under 19 National Champion; Emily Park, current U.S. under 15 National Champion; Meredeth Quick, former Intercollegiate National Champion; Shabana Khan, former U.S. National Champion; Natalie Grainger, former National Champion of South Africa and currently the #5 ranked female squash player in the world. Joining them will be Sally Norgate of San Diego; Dana Betts and Julie Lilien of New York and Amanda Siebert, U.S. National Junior Team member of Connecticut.

The men?s side includes: Stefan Casteleyn, former world-ranked #7 and National Champion of Belgium; Chris Walker, former world-ranked #4 and National Champion of England; Patrick Chifunda, former Zambian National Champion; Dan Sharplin, former National Champion of New Zealand, Muhammad Sadiq of Houston, Imran Khan of Paoli, PA, Clive Leach of Jersey City, NJ, Karim Yehia, also of Jersey City, Michael Corren of Salt Lake City and Mark Heather of Westchester, NY.

The event, sanctioned by The United Sates Squash Racquets Association and the Women?s International Players Association, is sponsored by the law firm of Epstein Becker & Green and presented by Robert A. Day, The Robin A. Sateriale Foundation, Feather Sports USA, JIVAGO International Fragrances, Squash Design, Coopers Australian Brewery and Super Shuttle. The event will also offer a full-compliment of amateur divisions for the local Southern California squash-playing community.
